Program Overview

We are building a global, open payments network designed to empower financial service providers, fintech innovators, and businesses to create an inclusive financial ecosystem. By building on Interledger, organizations are unlocking the potential of frictionless, global transactions, enabling micropayments, cross-currency interoperability, and seamless financial access for everyone—regardless of identity, geography, or income.

Grant Tracks

Interledger | Enabled (Up to $250,000 USD)

Designed for digital financial service providers—including digital wallets, mobile money providers, banks, savings co-ops, and neo-banks—this track helps integrate Rafiki into existing financial infrastructures, establishing new financial nodes on the Interledger Network.

Interledger | Unlocked (Up to $150,000 USD)

For web-based platforms (e.g., e-commerce sites, donation platforms) that want to expand payment options for users by integrating Open Payments APIs into their systems. 

What You Need to Know

  • Registered corporations
  • Non-government entities, institutions, collectives
  • Nonprofits

 

Focus areas:

  • Becoming a financial node within the Interledger Network
  • Expanding payment options on an existing web-based platform

Applications are being accepted from July 1 through August 1, 2025. All submissions must be completed via Submittable no later than August 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).

Projects must run for 12 months.

For projects that establish a new node on the Interledger Network or expand payment options for web-based platforms, funds can support:

 

  • Technical development & integration
  • Platform expansion & user adoption
  • Advancing financial inclusion through open payments
